Each company's data kept apart
Row-level security is on for every table in the database. The database checks which organization a user belongs to before it returns a row, so a company sees its own records plus what another organization has shared with it, like a client viewing its own buildings.
Access by role
Office staff, field workers, subcontractors, clients, and tenants each get a role. A client sees only their own buildings, and a subcontractor sees only the work assigned to them.
Encryption
Data is encrypted in transit and at rest. Taxpayer ID numbers from W-9 forms and stored bank account numbers get an extra layer of encryption that only our backend can read.
Audit trail
Changes to accounts, contracts, and subscriptions are logged with who made them and when.
Sign-in protections
Password rules are enforced on the server, and repeated sign-in attempts are rate limited.
Card data stays with Stripe
Payment details are collected and stored by Stripe. JanGuard never stores full card numbers.

Worker location

The GPS time clock is useful because it's precise. That's also why it has rules.

Consent first
The time clock asks each worker for consent before it collects location, and records when they agreed. Workers can withdraw consent in their settings.
Saved only while clocked in
Location is recorded while a worker is clocked in with the time clock open. If automatic clock-in is on, the app also checks location while it is open and saves it only when the worker arrives at a site.
Deleted after 90 days
Time clock location samples are deleted automatically after 90 days.
